tips for growing long hair

tips for growing long hairI, Marina Boukin – master hairstylist, master colorist, art director and owner of the salon Caprice, have devoted more than 20 years of my life to hairdressing, styling, image-making and considered to be an expert in this field.

Shiny, healthy hair and silky, flowing curls will never leave one indifferent. Long hair has always been the subject of delight and admiration, a symbol of female strength and beauty. In my salon practice, I came across a lot of questions about how to grow and keep long hair. I hear a lot of stories about people growing them out for years yet not seeing any difference in the length.
Due to having deep knowledge, long-term professional experience, we, in the Caprice Salon have developed our own method of working with long hair, which has proven to have amazing results.

I can’t wait to tell you about some of the simple tricks of having long hair!

1. Timely Haircut

I am perfectly aware of how much long hair lovers are afraid of scissors. After all, it is assumed you shouldn’t, in any case, cut your hair if you want it to grow long. From experience I can say that this is a misconception that only leads to the formation of broken tips, which break higher and higher, leading you away from the cherished goal. The solution is to get rid of the dead ends! To state the reality: no magic procedures will ever revive them again! If you already have a lifeless loofa, then don’t hope for a miracle. There’s too much risk you’ll lose it all.

By cutting off a few dry ends, you suspend them from splitting and in our salon, a great deal of success goes to a haircut with hot thermo-scissors. Read more about The Carecut. We’ve also developed special techniques of haircutting with the help of these scissors. This procedure improves hair by not only removing damaged tips and smouldering the cut, but also by keeping the length at its maximum. This is done by working on the surface of the hair.

In any case, I always advise not to wait too long and let your hair go, but come to preventive haircuts to remove a few millimetres off the tips of the hair, yet still keeping your desired length.

As one of tips for growing long hair – don’t afraid of triming haircut.

2. Proper Hair Care & Hair Nutrition

You may wonder what there is to do to prevent the formation of dry and brittle tips?  Well, wait no more, because you might as well achieve the perfect hair of your dreams. As it turns out, not everyone knows how to properly care for their hair and often people don’t understand the importance of care-taking procedures. Perhaps, in the current times, this is one of the most popular topics when consulting with my clients.

It’s no secret that long hair lacks power along the entire length. With shampoo, you cleanse the scalp and hair. The conditioner softens the hair. Hair masks give them special hydration and nutrition. Masks should be applied only to the length and tips of the hair, without rubbing it into the scalp. Additional protection and care, as well as detangling,  can be provided by special leave-in products that are applied to clean hair. To improve hair growth, you can use stimulant shampoos.

Gentle head massages not only improve microcirculation but also accelerate hair growth and strength.

Choosing good quality products is essential. Select products by appealing to the type of your hair,  condition of the scalp, and the concern you’re struggling with. Use the advice and recommendations of a competent professional.

We are getting very good results for hair restoration and treatment in the salon. A great deal of success in hair-care is due to essential oil wraps, 4 step hair lamination and vitamin hair shakes.

Protection. Long hair should be treated as a tender and very fragile material. It needs to be understood that any aggressive procedures cause irreparable damage. For example, harmlessly and perfectly advertised tools for straightening and hair ingressing, such as irons steamers and flatirons actually dehydrate, thin out and simply kill hair after frequent use. I strongly recommend minimizing this type of styling and switch, if possible, to the use of a hairdryer that is proven to give less damage. Also, don’t forget to use thermal protection.

When growing hair out, I strongly recommend to NOT change the colour of your hair radically. It is also best to switch to soft and sparing dyes.

Sunrays, salty seawater and chlorine in the pool are great stress for hair and lead to dryness and brittle ends. Wearing hats, using special sun protection and shampoos that remove salt and chlorine from your hair will help prevent this from happening. Sprays, serums, balms, moisturizing and nourishing creams will protect against dryness and temperature changes in the heating season, as well as prevent tangles and facilitate hair brushing.

3. Proper Diet

Everyone knows: “Within a healthy body is a healthy spirit!” And I will add, “And beautiful long hair!.

Healthy eating is the key to solving many problems. Healthy, beautiful hair directly depends on it. Draining diets lead to tarnishing, thinning, weakening and even hair loss. Before you lose weight, think about your diet. Hair suffers first from hungry diets. The result of a sharp weight loss can be a sharp reduction in hair density.

Healthy hair requires proteins that saturate them with keratin. Iron, for example, promotes the production of hemoglobin and improves the supply of oxygen to the scalp. Calcium is a necessary element for hair strength. Retinol (vitamin A) protects hair from brittleness. B vitamins are the most important elements responsible for elasticity and brilliance. Not surprisingly, unhealthy food also affects the health and beauty of hair. Fast food, sweets, canned and salty food – are enemies not only of your figure, but also of hair. The right set of products will improve overall health as well as hair condition and growth. Your ration should contain meat, fish, fresh herbs, dairy products, nuts, legumes, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. When the hair is already severely weakened and falls out, you need to take a set of necessary elements in the form of vitamins for hair. This will stop the fallout and speed up the recovery process.

Eat the right foods, take care of your hair and be healthy! We are always happy to help you in our salon.
